World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades can boost the value of certain numeric stats on weapons, armor and rings. Upgrades can also boost bonuses like Crit chance and damage from PvE.
For instance an item with the upgrade template ending in % will take on 3damage to attack each time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).
The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the item's level increases.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be put into armor, weapons and trinkets to provide an additional stat boost or effect when they're used. They can be acquired through crafting, buying from vendors, trading or looting. Certain upgrades also come with specific cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment that has a slot for them. The item must be at the very least upgraded to blue level to allow a component to be used. Unlike other mods, upgrade components can only be used once; they can't be used multiple times or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a particular kind of upgrade component that is that is used to upgrade non-amulet ascended or legendary equipment as well as the non-ascended back items. Infusions and enrichments can be retrieved by salvaging ascended gear or by completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.
A suffix or prefix can be added to an upgrade, which alters the name of the item it is used on (for instance, 'Canthan Armor Insignia',' changes to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase an item's Mark Level, or Rarity, allowing players to make stronger versions of the equipment that require fewer Upgrade Crystals than would be required to achieve the same upgrade level through normal methods.
A 'boost' upgrade can alter the attack or defence characteristics of an armored weapon or. These upgrades are available to be made from the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanical. They can be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear, or by buying them from the cash store for 500 upgrade crystals per.
The player can get up to five boost upgrades at a time. Each upgrade increases the chance that a higher-tier version of the item will appear in the next reset. This gives players an incentive to upgrade their equipment even when they're not sure what will be improved following a reset.
The process of upgrading an item could be expensive and it's possible that the item will eventually become obsolete or even break when the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed if the upgrade fails. Cash shop items can be used to reduce or eliminate the possibility of failure. Certain upgrades also provide the player a bonus if they are reinserted.
Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade parts which can be put in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs increase the power of nodes within a radius, including any pre-existing affixes. Glyphs are upgraded in many ways, and we suggest getting them up to level 15 as soon as possible.
In the endgame you'll often discover that the best way to improve your gear is by placing Glyphs. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded directly to level 15 and provide significant boosts to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to climb higher nodes faster.
Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced but Glyphs are the only upgrade component that can be removed and replaced without restrictions. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and replaced by using the aid of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.
The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it from your inventory. You can choose to replace it with a Glyph with the same rank, or a higher rank, which will increase the overall value of the Glyph.
Glyphs are available in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of a Gem Store bundle or purchase, with certain unlimited-use tools and also during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt can drop one of these Glyphs. There are some rare glyphs which you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.
Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs, you will have to put them on your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a special bonus which will boost the stats of a specific set of nodes in a radius surrounding the Glyph. Based on the Glyph it could be +40 to one of your primary stats or +25 to two of your secondary stats.
Glyphs will increase the number of nodes connected to them, which is why it is best to place Glyphs in strategic spots on the Graph. This will increase the impact. For instance that a Druid should aim to place their Glyphs near their primary damage nodes, however, you may also want to be sure to place them near the most critical damage nodes too.
Leveling
The item upgrade system allows players to increase the power of certain items by introducing upgraded components. This is commonly known as "upping". Each upgradeable item comes with an amount that determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be leveled up to a maximum of 385 ilvl. Each level requires a different number of components to reach and the costs for upgrading increase as the item is leveled up.
Certain upgrades require a specific ingredient to activate. This ingredient can be obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table or obtained from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed yields a certain number of Technology points. These points can be used to upgrading an item. When enough points have been earned, you will be eligible to claim the upgrade and get its extra bonuses.
When the player upgrades an item it is replaced by a new item of the same kind. The same armor can be transformed into the form of a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will have its own set bonus. This could be a drawback in that it could make the item more expensive if you do not need it.
If the player has enough tokens, they can reroll item upgrades . The item will be replaced by an entirely new item that is based on a level 1 base and totally different bonuses. This can be beneficial however it shouldn't be done often as it can be a waste of resources.
Certain upgrades can be rerolled multiple times to increase their value, giving players the ability to alter their equipment. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it gives a buff if the player continuously enters or exits the water. This item can be upgraded many times, increasing the maximum roll each time by 10 increments. This item is extremely important in PvP. A perfectly rolled version can be worth as much as 50x the value of a non-upgraded counterpart.
Requirements
Item upgrading allows players to upgrade the level of their equippable equipment--armor, weapons, and trinkets that are above ilvl 385 by providing the appropriate items and currency to an item upgrader NPC. The upgrade of armor set pieces will also boost the defense base of the piece, whereas upgrading weapon equipment will increase the base damage as well as the required strength and dexterity to meet the upgraded equipment's requirements.
All items are upgradeable up to five times except for hero gear, which can be upgraded eight times. Every time you upgrade an object, it is at risk of failing. The failure rate increases as you move beyond the maximum number. Failures can cause the item to return to its original condition and the player having to purchase more items than if they stopped upgrading after the maximum amount.
If an item is not able to upgrade the amount of experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. In addition the item will lose any gained bonuses such as crit chance and attack damage, as well as any other effects that are associated with that effect (for example, increased heal over time or reload speed). However, the user can continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure.
If an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied in order from the lowest to the highest. This means that when a weapon is upgraded, if it gains a crit chance increase that it will be applied prior to any attack damage increases. A new attribute known as Slots has been added to the item's definition and the value is recomputed every time an upgrade is applied.
The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is based on its rarity rating and upgrade slot count. The cost for upgrading non-premium items is equal to the base value of the upgrade. For instance, a typical equipment item may have five upgrades, each costing 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero quality items will have the lowest cost for each additional upgrade.
Premium items may require different upgrades than regular gear. For instance, they may need less sowels, however they may require more minerals and orons. Players will still have to take every piece of gear they want to upgrade to the NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko located in Central Flarine. In addition to the upgrade costs listed above, each equipment upgrade will require a different amount of the ingredients for upgrading.
